It”s Christmas in Port Moresby

So it’s Christmas in Port Moresby. And all the rush in shopping or going to the villages for holidays in on. As for me, will be here in POMCT. Was talking to a Fijian who was going for holidays in Fiji and I mentioned to him how I was going to be stuck in POMCT for the festive period. Then he said, “do not worry, it’s a blessing in disguise. You do not have to worry about blowing your budget for wantoks and relatives”. So there you go folks. If you are not going anywhere in PNG but stuck here, consider yourself lucky.

And the clinic where I am working, it has been busy, busy, busy. We are hoping the new extension to the hospital will open in the new year. I have been told it is like an hotel lobby inside so can not wait to move in to start work there. The new extension includes, 17 rooms able to have 4 bends each, a minor theatre, a major operating theatre, an ICU, and a well set up emergency where the ambulance can drive right through. The minor operating theatre is also connected to the ER and so is the x-ray room. So the set up is really an ER! If you are driving along the road to Port Moresby General Hospital you will notice the new extension being completed, opposite the General Hospital Maternity Wing.

I also have had some interesting clinical cases which I am writing up and will soon will put them for discussing in my new blog – general practise in PNG.

And to those who have been visiting and commenting on the PNJSTE, the final manuscript for the e-journal is ready – PNG’s first e-journal!! Thank you VB for all the work. We are now in the process of proof reading the final manuscript and it will be available on-line for download. Thank you to all the contributors and visitors. We are now accepting articles for the second issue so send your articles to us. Just visit the PNJSTE blog for the email addresses of the editors. Thanks again VB!

I am now trying to get my home Internet connection so when it is done the posts will be more regular. In the meantime, till me next post – HAVE A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS AND A HAPPY NEW YEAR’S CELEBRATIONS!!
