Hello. My name is Rodney Itaki and welcome to my blog. This blog really came about as a result of my passion for writing. Family being the unit of the society, my blog Pacific Family Health Journal, is dedicated to issues affecting families in the pacific, especially mother and child health. Most of the articles will be about issues in Papua New Guinea but I think it also applies to other pacific island nations. From time to time, articles about other pacific island countries will be published. Hope you find the articles informative.

Hello Rodney,
My name is David and I’m new to blogging. First let me say I enjoyed browsing your blog. I hope the one I’m working on is as well done as yours when I finish it.
I’ve been asked to write articles about telehealth in the deaf community, along with articles on independent living. I was wondering if you have any information you could share about the impact telehealth is having on families in the pacific? I would like to know if you have any resources that you could refer me to.
Thank you in advance for any information you can share.
David
Hi David, thank you for the compliments. I myself only started blogging this year and still learning the ropes.
With regards to telehealth/telemedicine in the pacific, I have to admit I have very little information of my own. In fact, I only learnt about telemedicine and telehealth when researching for my articles for my blog. However, I can refer you to someone who helped set up a telemedicine portal for Solomon Islands.
Here is the link to the Solomon Islands Telemedicine Network site. You may find information there helpful. And maby you can also contact someone there who might have first hand information on telemedicine in the pacific.
Here is an article about the system - http://ipath.ch/site/node/254
The Solomon Islands Telemedicine portal is maintained by the University of Basel. You can also follow this link to get in touch with Kurt Brauchli who may help you. He helped with the Solomon Islands telemedicine network and has first hand experience.
I hope these helps. Let me know about your blog so I can visit too.
regards
David you can also visit this internet group site and be a member and be on the mailing list to recive updates, news, etc regarding telemedicine in developing countries.
